Of course, being a non-Londoner, I’ve always been packed up and ready for the times I’ve taken the Tube to and from Heathrow, which makes a difference. And nowadays, I fly from Teesside and change at Schiphol, which is so much better than dealing with the insanity of London’s rotten airports. And gives me half a day in Amsterdam, too.

Yeah, I know it takes over an hour, but at the right time of day, it’s quite relaxing. Honestly. (Though not as relaxing as taking the Heathrow Express between T4 and the main station for an hour while your flight is delayed. A strangely Zen experience.)
